Charlotte Nicholls MP came to visit our cookery group to meet our members and find out about the work of Creating Adventures. Charlotte and our Chief of Staff, Leigh Drennan, rolled up their sleeves and joined the cookery class. It was a delight to meet them both, and for our members to meet them too.
When asked about her session with Creating Adventures, Ms Nichols said:
โI had the most fun this afternoon at the weekly cookery class โRecipes for successโ with Creating Adventures at the Orford Community Hub!
On the menu was leak and potato soup, with garlic bread, which was chosen for Oliver whose favourite film is Ratatouille. Iโve never made it from scratch before so was excited to try my hand, and Iโm pleased to say that everyone absolutely smashed it - verdicts ranged from 10/10 to 100/10. It was such a lovely, warm and welcoming environment to pick up new skills and develop confidence in the kitchen. Thank you to Creating Adventures for having me along to see the amazing work they do to support adults with autism and learning disabilities to socialise, have fun and grow their independence.
The cooking sessions are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and thereโs a range of other activities including the choir, yoga, brass band, dancing and more.
If you or someone you know could benefit from sessions like this, get in touch with Creating Adventures via their social media or on their website here.
