Getting Adventurous in the Kitchen

Adventurers Cooking in the Kitchen

Whilst it’s true there has been a lot of hardship in lockdown, one positive to come from it is that a lot of people have rediscovered the joy of cooking.

Creating Adventures members are no different, with more of our adults eating home cooked meals and getting interested in learning new skills in the kitchen and trying new recipes.

Jenny was already on the case with a new cooking adventure idea and she managed to secure funding from Postcode Community Trust, a grant giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

This month Jenny has launched a search to find the Master Chefs and Chocolatiers amongst the members by teaming up with Barbara Freeman from Fresh Beginnings and Alison Summersfield from Chocolate Gems to run a Recipe For Success project.

Twenty adults with Autism and Learning Disabilities will be able to book onto the 12 week course. There will be 10 members per course which will run over a half day each week. The dates will be announced on our events page and we are hoping to run taster sessions during lockdown too.

Jenny says “ we know that our members are a talented lot and we wanted to offer the opportunity, support and encouragement to help them to find their spark in the kitchen. The Recipe For Success project could help them to find work or it may simply help them to create food they and others can enjoy.”
